Aria K

Maria Kalbarczyk, known to many as Toronto-based Dj Aria K, has developed a sophisticated and unique sound that incorporates many styles, ranging from progressive, breaks, deep house, techno and electro, interwoven into a smooth fabric and with an intuition of what the crowd is craving.

Aria K was born in Poland, spending part of her childhood there as well as Germany before moving to Canada in the 90s. Despite calling Canada home, she has travelled extensively throughout five continents. Being fortunate enough to sample the sounds of multiple corners of the globe, and being able to see how certain ingredients in a musical performance have the same effect regardless of location, has given Aria K a deep appreciation for music and an ability to think outside the box.

Aria K is often posed the question about why she decided to become a DJ. In reality, the decision to DJ was simply an extension of her deep love of music. Aria K fell in love with listening to electronic music and attending performances of her favorite DJs in her first year of university, and within several months the natural progression was to pick up a set of turntables. Content to be a bedroom DJ, she was encouraged by many friends, who saw her potential and passion, to move into performing at clubs.

Over the years, Aria K has had the opportunity to perform at numerous locations across Ontario, including Revolution, Turret, Bombshelter, Atmosphere, Rude Native, Paeez, Calisto, System Soundbar, Sutra Tiki and Revival. She is looking forward to being part of the Beat Axis Collective and combining her talents with a group of equally passionate DJs!
