Devon Sheffield
Devon Sheffield is a new, young face on the Toronto club scene, offering a fresh combination of house flavours steeped in the classic tradition of DJing.
Despite the current affordability and easy access to DJ software, Devon bought a pair of second-hand turntables in 2006 and began exploring turntablism and the roots of DJ culture. A love of vinyl records and crate-digging was born, along with a better appreciation for the dedication involved in the past as we move forward in the digital age of DJing.
While attending a 3-year music business program in Oshawa, Ontario, Devon began to make a name for himself DJing in the local area. Following events for several Canadian charities and associations, he first learned how to work a crowd spinning beats at Oshawa’s Club 717 in 2008 and 2009. During this time, he was also an on-air personality on Durham College’s The Riot Radio, producing an eclectic late-night show as well as holding a weekly 2-hour lunchtime slot.
The culmination of all these events led to a position at zipDJ, a prominent Canadian digital DJ pool, and now even further into the Canadian music industry.
Although he has a broad musical palate, Devon’s deepest love is for all things house, whether it be soulful, deep, tech, tribal, minimal or banging. Armed with the skill and knowledge that too many modern DJs lack, and the support of the Beat Axis Collective, Devon Sheffield is ready to make a splash in the Toronto club scene. Watch this space.
